When an adolescent mother chooses to thrive

At just 14 years old, Aline found herself having a newborn, overwhelmed by the weight of motherhood. Raised by a single mom who witnessed her first born give birth to two children at home, Aline's world was uptight with struggles. Her mother, a woman of firm strength did everything she could to hold the family together but it often felt like an uphill battle.

Then came Dorcas Consolation Family (DCF) a symbol of hope in their darkest hours. DCF saw the potential in Aline and her family and decided to act by ensuring that medical emergencies would no longer be a looming threat to the family. Through counseling and the provision of school materials, DCF helped Aline return to school. Balancing motherhood and studies was no easy feat, but Aline was determined. With every passing day, she grew more confident, driven by the belief that she could create a better life for her family.

Despite the challenges, there was a spark of resilience in Aline's eyes. She dreamed of a better future for herself and her son.

With the basics secured, DCF turned its attention to the children's education. DCF enrolled Aline's son, nephew, and niece in its IBIBONDO early childhood development center. Here, children thrive under the watchful eyes of dedicated caregivers as Aline went back to resume her education. They received not just education but also growth monitoring and nutritional support, setting them on a path to healthy development.

Aline's mother, once weary and worn, found renewed strength in DCF’s support. She watched with pride as her daughter blossomed, embodying the very resilience she had instilled in her.

Life still brings its challenges on the family, but now they are filled with hope and possibility. Aline is no longer a desperate adolescent mother; she is a student, a role model, and a shining example of hope for her siblings and the community. Her story became one of empowerment and transformation, a proof to the incredible impact of community support and firm determination.
