Health program focuses on improving the well-being of women and their
families by offering primary healthcare services, comprehensive reproductive
health education, and initiatives to fight malnutrition and diseases.
In an effort to support the government policy of One Health Post per Cell; DCF has
established IRAKIZA Health Post, a community clinic that serves around 700 patients every
month. The community clinic serves the population of Gishari Sector and the neighboring
sectors of Rwamagana District.
The health Post provides Access to Sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR)
information and services such as menstrual hygiene, antenatal care, sexually transmitted
diseases screening and treatment, access to contraception, HIV screening and referrals,
Pregnancy test, Post-abortion care services referrals.
Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (ASRHR) is provided through Youth corner,
where adolescent girls and boys are provided with friendly information and services
(Prevention commodities provision, information on Fertility awareness, contraception,
consent, HIV, STIs, and Sexual and Gender based Violence).
In order to support the access to healthcare, each year DCF financially contributes to
community-based health insurance for the poor families. Over the past three years,
6,496 people have benefited this coverage to community-based health insurance.
Moreover, community outreach initiatives through SRHR clubs in and out of schools
improve practical skills of youth on sexual reproductive health and rights. During these
outreaches, DCF distributes Days for Girls sanitary pads so that girls and women have
uninterrupted school and work attendance. These reusable pads contribute to climate
resilience and environment conservation through proper waste management as they last for
2 years.
